My husband and I spent two weeks in Ireland, we stayed in four different areas and county Tipperary was our second stay. Our Airbnb host highly recommended this restaurant. So we felt that we had to give it a try. It was by far one of the worst experiences we had in our two weeks. We called to make a reservation and were told that we had to be seated no later than 730 so we took the 730. I sincerely wish that she would've just told us they weren't taking any more reservations.

We arrived, were seated and the waiter gave us about two minutes, then came up and demanded our order. I told him that we had only been sitting for about two minutes and we weren't ready, so he huffed and walked away. A couple minutes later a young waitress came up and again demanded our order. So we made our decisions quickly and put them in.

I will say, if you don't give a lick about service, and only care about food then this is the place for you. The food was amazing, but the service was so crappy. I only wish that Ireland had a tipping culture just so I could have not left a tip.

After our food was delivered, we never saw another member of the wait staff at our table again. Our drinks were never freshened or replaced, nobody asked us if our food was acceptable, we got absolutely zilch. I did flag somebody down while they were getting the dining room set up to close and asked if I was able to get dessert and he said yes they could put an order in, he walked away and never saw him again.

I ordered the salmon, my husband ordered the steak. As I said, the food was amazing. But we paid €72 for food that we didn't get to enjoy because we were basically being rushed out the door. I'm fairly certain the owner was present and was the one who checked me out.
No, I did not bring this to his attention, I was so pissed that I just wanted to leave. He was present, he knew what was happening. I can only assume he's OK with the way his employees treat his customers. Just terrible.

Response from the owner

Hi Beth I am very glad to hear you both taught our food was amazing and i am equally disappointed to find out that you did not receive the level of customer service we are renowned for,

I am actively following up on your feedback with all the staff to ensure that these mistakes will not be repeated in the future

It was not myself who you saw on the night,

If you would like to discuss the matter any further you can reach me @

MJ and the team and The Junction catered our wedding and were an absolute joy to work with. They were so accomodating and were ready to handle any request we had. They were easy to communicate with and removed all of the stress with sorting out food for our wedding. We always felt that they had everything under control, and they always did.

The food was fantastic and most of our guests said it was the best food they had at a wedding in a long time. We had vegetarian, vegan, and gluten free guests and MJ accomodated for all of them with ease. The vegetarian and vegan options were on par with the rest of the food, and they were not just an after thought which we really appreciated. They also did a desert table full of a selection of deserts which were served to our guests and that was a massive success.

We would highly recommend MJB Catering to anyone looking for catering at their wedding or anything else. They were accomodating, capable, communicative, and the food was perfection.

Food is excellent and reasonably priced. Fast and friendly service. Kids menu is fantastic and basically peanut/nut free, so the kids have a good range of choice too along with desserts that are peanut free, this alone will make us return and have already booked our next dinner. Highly recommend and well worth the trip out there.

Response from the owner
